Last week our profile went live on ParentProfiles.com. Within 48 hours of being live we were contacted by a wonderful teenage couple whom I shall refer to as Mulan and Li Shang, after her favorite Disney movie.

Today, Mulan let us know that she has decided to parent the child instead of placing for adoption.

As Bryce has been out of town visiting family, I had the opportunity to get to know her better.

This is a love letter to Mulan from me.

Mulan,

I cannot express enough my gratitude towards you for considering us as parents for your child. That decision can never be made lightly, and the fact that you felt we may be the right fit for your family means the world. It gives me hope that one day we will be parents. 

Deciding to parent your child is a wonderful decision and no one should ever judge you for it. I do not have any ill feelings towards you. I want what’s best for you, Li Shang, and your child. 

The hardships you are facing are difficult to imagine, especially for someone so young. I hope and pray that you and Li Shang are safe, healthy, and cared for. If you ever need anything I am just a text message away – no matter what time, day or night. 

Our few days of text messaging has been absolutely wonderful. Because you are not far along in your pregnancy, I knew that you may choose to parent. I wish you the best as you continue on this journey. 

Be strong, sweetie. Remember that a girl in Idaho is thinking about you and loves you very much.
