Can you believe it’s been 4 months today since Hudson’s birth?
Neither can we.
While getting to know each other before Hudson arrived, Marissa shared this photo of herself at 4 months old.
Naturally, I had to re-create the pose of Marissa and do a side-by-side comparison. Those cheeks! We have a sneaking suspicious where he gets them from. #twinners
These two! I’m totally blinded by my rose colored glasses so… What do you see? Do you think they look alike? What is similar, and what is different?
In such a sort amount of time he has grown so much. His hair is longer, the cheeks are just as chubby, his baby rolls have developed perfectly, and his laugh is contagious. He makes us laugh constantly.
It feels like almost every day is a milestone. He discovered his hands, then his toes, then started reaching for things, recognized us, follows us with his eyes, and smiles back at us. Just yesterday he rolled over for the first time… and he hasn’t stopped doing it since. And today, he held his bottle on his own.
I had no idea the overwhelming love I could feel for another person. Every mom talks about it, but that deep love is unfathomable until it’s experienced. There is no frame of reference.
His personality is just peeking through, and it’s adorable. He loves bath time and kicking in the water. He’s not afraid to get his face wet. He is the best sleeper, sleeping through barking pugs and smoke detectors. He’s a chronic thumb sucker. He always wakes up happy. He hates being in the carseat. His hands are always scratching and rubbing his surroundings and it calms him when falling asleep. He only sleeps on his stomach. His toes never stop wiggling. He thinks I’m funny when I scream and thinks Bryce is funny when he bounces and rattles him around. He loves to watch me brush his hair in the mirror. He loves his schedule and lets us know when he feels off-schedule. His feet are always sweaty and clammy. After he eats he stretches. He loves to be tossed in the air and caught. And when he’s ready for bed, he loves to lick my neck as I walk him to his crib — it’s absolutely disgusting and enduring and adorable all at the same time. He loves to record and watch SnapChats with me. He loves to FaceTime. He loves to be read to and look at the pictures.
We’ve been puked on, pooped on, spit up on, drooled on, had drool fall in our mouth, dealt with baby boogers, cleaned up toe lint, and been scratched from those razor sharp baby fingernails.
We are experiencing everything that parents experience, for the first time, taking it all in, and loving every moment of it.
When I sing to him at night he drifts off to sleep. But when I sing La La Lu he smiles up at me and I can’t hold back the tears. That’s my favorite.
He is our everything. Every day I marvel at the privilege of being his mom. The trust Marissa shows us in raising him is overwhelming. There are nights I stare into his beautiful brown eyes and cry tears of joy and love for the blessing I hold in my arms, staring up at me.
